Newbie Blog - Cupcakes and Flowers

Welcome folks,

This is is the first blog ive ever written so here goes...........

Once upon a time there was a cupcake card that ........just joking.......

It had been planned sometime now to visit the Olympia Craft and Stitch Show in London, so off I trotted with my friend Jan to make the 37 mile trip from Leigh on Sea to West London. On arrival we were both overwhelmed by the amount of stalls and pretty things on show for all to see. We didnt know where to start so being the keen card crafters we decided to dedicate our time to the top floor (naturally) and instantly hit the paper craft suppliers. When I saw Jans face it was a picture, she had that "ive died and gone to heaven" look, lets just say she was like a kid in a candy store..... closely followed by myself who was just lapping up the colourful displays and mapping out new ideas in my head for shiny new card designs.

Weaving through the madness we noticed there was a Papercraft Inspirations competition, the Cupcake 'Cake and Take' card workshop, so we decided to partake and put our creative juices to good use. Whilst there I met a lovely lady by the name of Enfys who had declared that she had the best team of 4 out of the 8 participants. Jan and I had a little smile and got cracking on our cards. With a little bit of re-jigging of the suggested design this is what I created, very enjoyable hour with the papercraft ladies, thank you.

You can read more about it here on Enfys blog: http://going-buggy.blogspot.com/

In true newbie style I left home with a small budget in mind for my first big craft show experience, but unsurprisingly that was shot to pieces once I witnessed the spendour of products on offer. I purchased these cute Majestic flower and butterfly clear stamps (http://www.card-io.com/SHOP/Majestix.html) and immediately put them to use this weekend. Im fairly new to stamping and loved these versatile stamps, the creative concepts are pretty much limitless. With a bit of imagination I started stamping on all sorts of materials, plain paper, embossed paper, serviette paper, tissue paper and last but not least.......wallpaper. I had a ball and created some lovely cards.............

All in all it was a fantastic day, good times, good company and plenty of new ideas were simmering away in my mind. I left feeling craftily inspired and look forward to the next craft show.

Au revoir for now folks,

Lisa
